On June 20, 2018, Mr. Xie Donggang, CEO of the Industrial park development company CJSC, held negotiations with Mr. Uldis Augulis, the Minister of Transport of Latvia. During the negotiations, issues of cooperation between the ports of Riga and Ventspils, China and Belarus were discussed. Among the prospect areas of cooperation: services in the field of transportation, management and maintenance of ports, infrastructure development and others. Mr. Xie Donggang also represented the progress of the development of the China-Europe route.
Mr. Uldis Augulis has told about advantages of a geographical position of Latvia and a situation of the ports development. The Minister of Transport of Latvia emphasized the prospects of cooperation with the countries located along the One Belt, One Road, and also expressed the hope for the joint development of the Latvian ports.
As the result of negotiations between the Industrial park development company CJSC and the Ministry of Transport of Latvia, a memorandum of cooperation was signed. This event will stimulate the development of the Latvian railway, ports and air services, as well as strengthen partnership relations between Latvia and the China-Belarus Industrial Park, and will give a new impact to the One Belt, One Road initiative.
The event was also attended by Mr. Maris Selga, the Ambassador of Latvia to the People's Republic of China, Mr. Kaspars Ozolins, secretary of the Ministry of Transport of Latvia, Mr. Sy Bo, Counselor of the Embassy of Latvia to the People's Republic of China, and others.
